The decease of a Hungarian citizen that occured outside of Hungary can be registered in Hungary through the Consulate.
Who can initiate this procedure?
The Hungarian citizenship of the deceased must be proven at the time of decease with a valid Hungarian passport
Documents to be submitted when applying
- The original Israeli death certificate with Apostille authentication (this can solely be obtained from the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Jerusalem, NO digital or e-Apostille is accepted) and its precise Hungarian translation (Note: NO Apostille/notary legalization is needed on the translation itself.)
- Electronically filled-out and printed application form (to be filled out in Hungarian in full, correctly, but not signed!)
- The original Hungarian documents of the Hungarian citizen deceased issued by the Hungarian authorities:

- Birth certificate
- Marriage certificate
- LIG ”address card”/a document indicating his/her Hungarian identification number
- Hungarian passport valid at the time of decease

- The applicant's valid passport

You need to contact the consular officer at consinfo.tlv@mfa.gov.hu for further clarification in advance if any of the below cases apply to the deceased:
- The name of the deceased in Israel differs from the name indicated in his/her Hungarian documents issued by the Hungarian authorities
