Ügyfélkapu (literally "Client Gate" or Online Customer Portal) is the official Hungarian government portal for secure, online, electronic administration. It acts as a single-sign-on (SSO) system, enabling users to manage taxes (NAV), healthcare records (EESZT), and official, legal, or business affairs remotely.
Who can initate this procedure?
Any person who is registered in:
- the Hungarian personal data and address registry, or
- the central immigration registry of the Hungarian Immigration Authority, or
- the personal registry of aliens (foreign citizens) applying for electornic administration.
IMPORTANT: even if you have a valid Hungarian passport/ID card/ licence, you are only able to register for this portal if you appear in one of the above official government registries. This is usually the case for citizens who also hold a Hungarian address card ("lakcímkártya") or a so-called "decision of identification number" from the authorities. Should you not be in the registry upon application, the application cannot be processed.
Documents to be submitted when applying
- Hungarian citizens: valid Hungarian ID (ID card, driving license, passport) and document proving Hungarian identification number (LIG/address-card)
- EEA citizens: valid EEA ID or passport
- non-EEA citizens (including Israelis):
- valid Israeli passport
- all documents with which you registered at NAV (National Tax and Customs Administration) (registration documents, identity card, driver's license, etc.)
IMPORTANT: if there is an error in the personal data provided when registering at NAV, or if they differ from your correct data, it is necessary and the responsibility of the client for the data to be corrected and updated at NAV. Though the Client Gate can be opened by the consular officer irrespective of the data registered at NAV, the Client Gate will not be functional if there is a discrepancy between the data in the systems! It is therefor the responsibility of the client to have those corrected (the Consul will open Client Gate based on the data verified at the Embassy).
Method of submission
- The application must be submitted in person after a prior appointment
- No fast track procedure or emergency appointments are available
- Appointments cannot be booked by phone or e-mail, only online

Note:
Upon new subscription, Clients receive their initial password via e-mail. Accounts must be activated by changing the initial password within 5 days after the date of registration.
