One can apply for an Apostille authentication from Hungary on specific Hungarian certificates (issued by the Hungarian authorities) so that they can be recognised outside of Hungary.
Who can initiate this procedure?
Anyone possessing a Hungarian birth/marriage/decease certificate
Documents to be submitted when applying
- A valid Hungarian/foreign passport
- The respective, original Hungarian certificate (birth/marriage/decease)
Important notes:
You need to contact the consular officer at consinfo.tlv@mfa.gov.hu for further clarification in advance if any of the below cases apply to you:
- The certificate was issued before 01 March 2006
- You would like to have an Apostille authentication on a certificate other than a Hungarian birth/marriage/decease certificate

- The application must be submitted in person after a prior appointment
- No fast track procedure or emergency appointments are available
- Appointments cannot be booked by phone or e-mail, only online
