Documents that are intended to be used in Hungary are often expected to be authenticated/legalised by a Hungarian consular officer.
I. SIGNATURE AUTHENTICATION
When a signature is authenticated, the document is signed by the client in front of the consular officer. The consular officer only certifies the authenticity of the signature, and is not examining, nor is responsible for the content of the document.
Documents to be submitted when applying
- A valid passport
- An offical document indicating the applicant’s
- mother’s full name at birth (eg. through his/her Israeli birth certificate, or his/her Hungarian LIG „address” card/ document indicating his/her Hungarian identification number)
- exact place of birth (indicating the name of the town) (eg. his/her Israeli birth certificate or Hungarian LIG ”address” card/ document indicating his/her Hungarian identification number)
- full permament address (eg. Israeli ID card „sefach” or his/her Hungarian LIG ”address” card/ document indicating his/her Hungarian identification number)
- Completely prepared, filled-out and printed document that needs to be signed in front of the Consul (not to be signed in advance!)
Signature authentication on behalf of a legal entity (organisations, companies etc.)
- A valid passport
- An offical document indicating the applicant’s
- mother’s full name at birth (eg. through his/her Israeli birth certificate, or his/her Hungarian LIG „address” card/ document indicating his/her Hungarian identification number)
- exact place of birth (indicating the name of the town) (eg. his/her Israeli birth certificate or Hungarian LIG ”address” card/ document indicating his/her Hungarian identification number)
- full permament address (eg. Israeli ID card „sefach” or his/her Hungarian LIG ”address” card/ document indicating his/her Hungarian identification number)
- The official document „cégkivonat” (but not the „tárolt” version!) that

- was issued within the last 30 days
- verifies that the business has been registered with in the Hungarian court
- indicates the names of its reprensentatives

II. TRANSLATION CERTIFICATION
Translations certified by the consular must meet the following conditions:
- The Consulate certifies translations that have been prepared beforehand only (i.e. we do not do the translation itself) from Hebrew to Hungarian language, and from English to Hungarian language.
- The document’s intended use must be in Hungary, and related to consular affairs
- The Hungarian translation must be prepared precisely, both in terms of content, grammar and aesthetics. The Consulate cannot correct inappropriate translations.
- We are not obliged to certify the translation of documents not related to consular activities or if it requires special linguistic skills (legal, medical language etc.) In such cases you need to contact the Hungarian Office For Translation and Attestation Ltd. (www.offi.hu/en) in order to have the translation prepared and certified.

- The original Israeli document with Apostille authentication (this can solely be obtained from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Jerusalem, NO digital or e-Apostille is accepted),
- The precisely pre-prepared Hungarian translation

III. CERTIFICATION OF A COPY
When the copy of a document is certified, the consular officer verifies that the document is a true copy of the original presented by the applicant.
