Method of application

Passport applications (or in other words, renewal of passports - same process) have to be submitted in person, after booking an appointment.

In all cases, clients will receive a new passport and the old one will be voided.  

 

IMPORTANT:

No passport application can be submitted in case:

  1. your life events (birth, marriage, divorce or spouse's decease) have not been registered yet in Hungary, you are obliged by the law to do this and passport applications may not be submitted beforehand. For more information, kindly visit the following link. 
  2. any of the required documents are missing.

 

Documents to be submitted when applying

All applicants must bring a passport photo not older than 1 month with the following requirements:

  • passport size – 35X45 mm -
  • photo with white background only.
  • The face must be in focus, have good contrast and accurately reflect the person’s skin tone.
  • No glasses.
  • The photo may contain only the person applying for the passport, even if the application is for a baby or a young child. The person should look directly into the camera with a natural expression.
  • The eyes must be open, the mouth closed with no smile or other emotions present.
  • As well as being fully open, the eyes must not be covered or partially covered by hair, head coverings or any other object.

 

 APPLICANTS OVER THE AGE OF 18

  • Current Hungarian passport
  • valid Israeli passport or ID
  • Original Hungarian certificate of birth and marriage (issued by the Hungarian authorities)

In addition, if you had been issued:

  • original Hungarian LIG „address” card („lakcímkártya”)
  • Certificate of Citizenship  (not older than 3 years) or „honosítási okirat
  • Original Hungarian certificate of change of name „névváltoztatási okirat” (issued by the Hungarian authorities)

IMPORTANT NOTES:

  1. Marital name or a name that has been changed can only appear in your Hungarian passport if you already registered your marriage/change of name in Hungary beforehand, and you have received the certificates confirming these issued by Hungarian authorities
  2. In case you are applying for a new passport due to your current Hungarian passport having been stolen, an official record from the Police on your report of the stolen document is necessary.

 

APPLICANTS UNDER THE AGE OF 18

  • Both parents and minors over the age of 12 must be present
  • Both parents’ valid Israeli passport or ID
  • Hungarian birth certificate of minor (issued by the Hungarian authorities)
  • Hungarian marriage certificate of Hungarian citizen parent (issued by the Hungarian authorities)

 

In addition, if you/minor had been issued:

  • Minor’s valid Israeli passport
  • Minor’s current Hungarian passport
  • Hungarian LIG „address” card („lakcímkártya”) of minor
  • Certificate of Citizenship (not older than 3 years) or „honosítási okirat
  • Certificate of change of name „névváltoztatási okirat” (issued by the Hungarian authorities)

 

SPECIAL INFORMATION FOR CHILDREN UNDER THE AGE OF 12

  • The child does not have to be present in person
  • in addition to be submitted: 1 passport photo not older than 1 month is necessary with the following requirements: passport size – 35X45 mm - photo with white background only. The face must be in focus, have good contrast and accurately reflect the person’s skin tone. No glasses. The photo may contain only the person applying for the passport, even if the application is for a baby or a young child. The person should look directly into the camera with a natural expression.
